Rebel 27 [Action | Written]

[Litchi is taking a rare day off from the clinic. Only it's not even really a full day; she's just stepping out for a while for some fresh air and a chance to actually check in on her housemates. Watching diligently over Tsubaki is still her top priority, of course, but she needs just a short break from the clinic.

So it's a quick trip back to House 48 first to look in on Tao and Thirteen and possibly get a bath. And some tea. It's been far too long since she was home long enough to really have a chance to sit with her "family" for a while.

Then from there, she'll be heading off to the library to grab some new reading material. There are several things she's been meaning to do some research on, and it's about time she got around to it. She'll be at the library for a few hours before heading back, pausing only to make a note in her journal:]

Could I speak with you two for a moment when I get back? Something has been brought to my attention that I think both of you need to be aware of as well.

[He'll smile lightly back at her, before putting the finishing touches on tuning.]

I'm glad you're here to take a break, even if it's for only a little while. But, you know, if you'd like a little music... all you ever have to do is ask.

[Thirteen begins playing a subdued, relaxed tune. Unlike many of the songs he used to play, it's not melancholy, though.]

[Quietly appreciative of the relaxing tune, Litchi leans against the back of the couch a little more, letting her eyes drift shut. She stays silent for a stretch, just listening contentedly before cracking an eye open and smiling.]

I don't think I've ever heard you play this song before. Something new you picked up?

Yeah, it is. You like it, then?

Yes, it's beautiful. Where did you learn it?

[He hesitates for a moment.]

I wrote it.

[Surprised blink. Do wonders never cease?]

Really? David, you -- that's amazing! You really do have a gift.

[...Well. Way to make him turn red, Litchi. He turns away a little in what amounts to a vain attempt to hide it.]

Well... thank you. Really.

[She can't help a small grin at that reaction, but has the decency to just idly poke at the couch cushions rather than tease him about it.]

I mean it. I really am impressed. Let me know if you write anything else, hm~? I'd certainly love to hear it.

[...Well, at least there's motivation now. Though he won't voice that aloud. He will sound amused... and genuinely happy at that, though.]

...I'll keep it in mind. Why don't you sit down for a bit?

Hmm. You know, I think I will.

[She circles around the couch and settles down beside him comfortably. This is easily the most cheerful she's felt since Tsubaki ended up at the clinic. Just contentedly leaning back in her seat here.]

...Have you written any other songs, or is it just that one so far?

Just the one right now. Only started trying recently.

[Soft chuckle.] Even more impressive considering it's a first composition. You truly are a man of many talents, David~

[...You're really not helping him not turn red again.]

You flatter me, Litchi. Thank you.

It's the truth. [Well, don't turn red like that and you won't inspire more teasing. Although it's a little too late for that. Because she's already glancing over at him with a spark of amusement in her eyes.]

...I'd certainly hope you're not starting to run a fever.

Well, if it meant you stayed home and looked after me it wouldn't be all bad.

[...Well, he can tease right back, Dr. Faye-Ling.]

[A soft red starts to creep across her cheeks at that, but she still gives a quiet laugh. She did deserve that return. But then again, she's never been quite as good at taking the playful teasing as she is at dishing it out.

And yet she keeps going.] Now, now, David. I do have other patients, you know.

Hm. I guess it would be a little too much to ask for constant housecalls, wouldn't it?

[He says that as though it's quite a shame.]

[Quickly getting more flustered, Litchi finally ducks her head to try to hide just how red she's turning. The teasing edge is starting to fade from her voice. This is far more difficult when you keep blushing as well.]

You do have an unfair advantage just by living with me. Besides, I can't have my other patients getting jealous now, can I?

[...Well, he can't hide a smile at the blush. Seeing her like that... well. He'd be lying if he said it wasn't cute.]

I suppose not. Though I couldn't blame them if they did.

[She can hear that smile and it's not helping things at all. Almost shyly, she toys with the end of her ponytail.]

Well... To be fair, I suppose I could take some time off from work next week. It has been a while.

I think that'd do you some good, honestly. Wouldn't hurt to just kick back and relax before the holiday season kicks into gear.

To be honest, I've been thinking about taking some time off anyhow to try and make contact with another one of the Spirits. [Another idle twist of her hair.]

I'm not sure if that counts for relaxing, but... with everything that's been happening lately, I really think it's a necessary precaution.

...Maybe not relaxing, but I would agree that it's important. But it's what you make of it, I guess.

[He pauses for a moment to think, setting his guitar aside.]

...Would you mind terribly if I joined you? Nala's proven interesting and useful to learn. I wouldn't mind seeing what the other spirits can do.

Well... it might be nice just to get away for a few days, at least.

[Litchi smiles, subconsciously brightening up at the prospect of Thirteen coming along for the training.]

I'd love some company. Actually, I was thinking of trying to contact the wind spirit. I never quite realized how much I relied on my Ars until... well. You understand.

[Until they were gone. The thought briefly sobers Thirteen's mind, but at least this time, this... Filial Magic didn't seem to have the price that magic from her world did.

And honestly, after seeing first hand the power of most of the village, Thirteen figured it was going to take more than just his gun to protect him in the future.]

I do. But that sounds like a good idea. Do you know where we have to go to contact that spirit?
