[It's been a very long day. Litchi has been up since before dawn, tending to patients, straightening up the clinic, helping lost little boys, and overall working herself half to death. Only she's looking a ton more energetic than usual, and even as she's leaving the clinic for the night, she's still upbeat and smiling and cheerful.

~~No, she hasn't gotten into the drugs.~~ Just before heading out to walk home, she'll open up her journal for a quick message.]

Well, it's certainly about time things returned to normal, don't you think? I've had more than enough excitement for quite some time.

Mr. Goroh, David, Miss Yayoi... make sure you're all home within an hour or so, okay? Just because Tao isn't home to eat all your food right now doesn't mean you can be late for dinner. I should be home soon; it won't take long to get back from the grocery store.

[He ends up leaning up against the fridge, with his arms crossed, regarding her odd mannerisms with curiosity. He's seen that things are odd today. Was she affected too?]

When have you ever known me to be late? [He finally realizes something that's off about her.] Where's Lao Jiu?

[She glances at him over her shoulder curiously. He actually remembered the names of her stuffed pandas?]

He's in my room, like always. Why?

[He gives her a puzzled look.]

I always arrive on time. Always have. [He sounds vaguely offended that she'd think otherwise.]

Usually he's in your hair or tucked inside your blouse.

[...Something is very, very strange here.]

Inside my-- He's too big for that, though...

[Aw, crap, the soup is boiling over. With a small yelp of distress, she pulls the pot from the burner.]

Oh, no...

[Too big for that? Has she been overfeeding him? The soup burning over provides a handy distraction.]

It should still be fine, doctor.

Still, I should have known better...

[Why is she feeling so muddled all of a sudden, anyway? Normally, she'd never let a soup boil over.]

But you're right; I'm sure I can fix this. Could you hand me the vegetable stock, please?

Of course. [He looks around a bit.] Where?

[The old Goroh knew where this stuff was. He'd sometimes make food in the kitchen himself, but usually only enough for himself. Detective Goroh, on the other hand, doesn't know a thing about making food.]

[She turns to give him a blank stare for a beat or two. And then laughs despite herself.]

It's on the counter right behind you, Uesugi.

[He does not laugh, merely turning to locate it and then hand it to her.] Here you go.

[And she really can't help but keep chuckling as she pours more stock into the soup. Trying not to make it seem like she's laughing at him, though.]

[A chance of subject then.]

I did a thorough sweep around the village. There's no sign of those beasts left.

[So that's what he meant by "patrol". She smiles.]

Really? Thank you so much for looking into it. There's been just so much trouble this past week...

[Hooold up. The smile fades and she glances over at him worriedly. Those injuries he sustained in the earthquake are still worrying her.] You weren't injured any more while you were out there, were you?

I've healed up just fine. You can check later, if that will make you feel better.

[In fact, it's almost like he never had them.]

Hmm. I might just take you up on that~

[Teasing? Yes. Even though that just kind of slipped out without her thinking.

She's not too sure she really cares, though.]

[He nods. There is no flirtation here.]

[Well, that lack of a response took the wind out of her sails a bit. Sigh.]

After dinner should be just fine. I'll just need a chance to clean up first.

[The smallest of small grins.]

I'll handle the clean up, afterward. It's the least I can do.

[Don't you go grinning when she's already let down.]

W-well... if it's no trouble... I'd certainly appreciate it.

[A nod.] Let me know when dinner is done, I need to put my weapons away. [Both guns... and his sword, which he keeps over his shoulder, rather than his side.]

[She looks slightly surprised at the sword being in a different place, but still gives a small nod.]

I'll let you know. And be sure to change into something dry, I don't want you catching a cold.

[He gives his classic hand wave as he heads towards his room. At least something is still the same.]
