Rebel 22 [Voice/Action] Forward-dated to late evening

[It's been a very long day. Litchi has been up since before dawn, tending to patients, straightening up the clinic, helping lost little boys, and overall working herself half to death. Only she's looking a ton more energetic than usual, and even as she's leaving the clinic for the night, she's still upbeat and smiling and cheerful.

~~No, she hasn't gotten into the drugs.~~ Just before heading out to walk home, she'll open up her journal for a quick message.]

Well, it's certainly about time things returned to normal, don't you think? I've had more than enough excitement for quite some time.

Mr. Goroh, David, Miss Yayoi... make sure you're all home within an hour or so, okay? Just because Tao isn't home to eat all your food right now doesn't mean you can be late for dinner. I should be home soon; it won't take long to get back from the grocery store.

[He glances back at Litchi.]

I'm not saying she doesn't have potential, but until she gains some confidence, she won't be able to reach it.

[Confused frown. Goroh, why do you keep confusing her today.]

What are you talking about? She has plenty of confidence. I've never once seen her even flinch in the line of duty.

[Thirteen again keeps his mouth shut, but there's confusion in him as well. Noel was generally shy and neurotic from what memories he had of her. Dedicated and kind, but somewhat anxious. But considering everyone's memories seemed to be out of alignment, he decides to wait and see. But why would Litchi remember her so differently?]

[He considers that as well, a glance at Thirteen confirms that the pilot shares his thoughts.]

I guess we'll see at dinner, then.

[Litchi looks between the two of them with a blink or two. She knows she's right here, random character changes today aside. Shaking her head, she sighs and leans back in her chair.]

[And here comes Tsubaki and Noel! Well. Noel following Tsubaki, but yeah.]

Good evening.

[What. Okay, Noel he doesn't think much about the physical changes. He didn't spend time studying her much in the past, and honestly, Tsubaki's presence draws a lot more attention now.

She's taller, looks far more mature and more regal, and she's wearing mostly black. What the hell is going on. He shoots a quick "now what?" glance back at Goroh, then he looks back at Tsubaki in particular.]

It's okay. Good to see you both.

[Goroh had noticed Noel's figure in the past, noting in particular her sensitivity to perceived shortcomings. These traits no longer seemed to be present given her newly redefined curves. Among the alterations he had seen, this was by far the strangest. Is this was Litchi meant about Noel being confident? Ridiculous to think such a simple thing as vanity could cause so much trouble.

Tsubaki in turn is more interesting. She was his student, after all. But now, something was different. She was older, held herself upright with a sense of discipline, with a uniform that gave her a look of authority. All very, very attractive features to have in a person. Clearly whatever changes had occurred to her had been beneficial. Being well mannered, he stands up as they enter, waiting to be seated until they too have sat down as well. ~~Yeah, he didn't do this for you, Litchi.~~]

Good evening Miss Yayoi, Miss Vermillion. You're both looking well.

[Noel's appearance she's used to. Tsubaki? This is a shocker. She's older? And in all black? And a cape? There's no question now. This is definitely some kind of experiment. First Goroh, and now--

Wait a minute, what is Goroh being so polite for, anyway? She didn't get so much as a smile when she came in.

Just a little dejected here, but she still gives Noel and Tsubaki a smile in greeting. ~~Totally not forced, you can't see that.~~]

Oh, it's no trouble at all. Please, have a seat.

[GLADLY. But, uh. Someone's grabbed her attention without even trying. The voice--there's no mistaking it--]

... Mr. Goroh? Is that you?

[Fair observation, Noel. Tsubaki's wondering the same thing, but she's not too concerned about it. Noel herself was proof that by whatever means the Malnosso had accomplished the feat, changes... had been made.

Interesting. But not worth standing around and looking dumbstruck. It wouldn't be befitting to leave their company waiting any longer, so she goes ahead and takes a seat next to Thirteen.]

Your hospitality is appreciated.

[Thirteen glances quickly between everyone at the table. Okay. Yeah, things are weird. But no matter, they can discuss this over dinner. He'll suggest it once everyone begins eating. If nothing else, it'll make for good conversation.]

Well then. Shall we?

Detective Goroh, as always. [Clearly Noel seems to not recognize him as such. Odd. He sits down, watching the others carefully and studying them. No... none of them are right. Everyone's behavior is off. And to them, it seems his own is as well.]

[Litchi just gets to serving up food for everyone. Things may be incredibly strange right now, but there are people to feed, and that is far more important.]

Oh, Miss Yayoi. Please, don't think anything of it. This is your home too, after all.

[She blinks slowly, figuring that the issue with Goroh might have something to do with Tsubaki's current...look. Just what is going on? But she'll follow without another word, taking a seat next to. Uh. Litchi. Yes.

She'll try not to stare, either. Maybe she'll find something out if she just sits and listens, but where are her manners?] Thank you for making all of this, Miss Litchi.

['Her home'. Tsubaki's attitude softens a little upon hearing that. Living like this... it's different, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. And dining with people who care about her and who she cares for in return... well, it's... nice.

So she won't expect them to call her by her title. In fact, she won't expect any special treatment at all.

But seriously, she could have been served first. She's the Imperator, dammit.]

[So, after the food is all served up, and everyone is settled in, Thirteen is going to open conversation. The confused and lost glances that everyone has shared recently... well. It's time to clear the air into open skies. He quietly clears his throat.]

...Goroh and I were talking earlier. It seems there's been a lot of confusion going on lately about who people are. It's like people are remembering things differently than they really should. I've already been mistaken about some things as it is, and I believe it to be an experiment of some sort.

I think to prevent any sort of confusion, maybe we should reacquaint with each other. Share our stories, make sure the record is set. Sound good?

I'll start us off. I'm Uesugi Goroh, Head Detective of the Galactic Federation Police, Department Sector X-319. I am not, as David suggested, in any way affiliated with the F-Zero races. I think that's all the details that are relevant for now.

[It takes Litchi a moment to realize it's her turn. The "not affiliated with the F-Zero races" sort of stunned her for a second there.]

A-ah, right... I'm Litchi Faye-Ling, I own a medical clinic in the Orient Town sector of Kagutsuchi. It was just me for a while, but a couple years ago, I finally had enough saved up to hire on my assistant Linhua and Dr. Han for help. I think that's just about everything... I can't say I lead a terribly exciting life.

[Oh wait, that's right. Goroh mentioned the panda earlier.] Oh! And... if for some reason you remember a panda being in my hair, the only "Lao Jiu" I have is a stuffed animal.

[Well, Litchi's story sounds fine to Noel. Goroh, she already didn't know too much about. But... part of a police force...?

Wait. It's her turn, isn't it?] I'm Noel Vermillion, a lieutenant serving the Novus Orbus Librarium. I also attended the Military Academy sponsored by them for a few years with Tsubaki and Ragna--Captain Ragna Kisaragi, if you don't know him. He's my direct superior.

Besides that, life back home is pretty quiet.

[...Huh. So Goroh's with the Federation, and Litchi doesn't have that panda. Intriguing, and easily making this the best experiment so far. But Noel... did she really just say Ragna Kisaragi? Maybe she was just getting confused... because that? Well, that's just about the most ridiculous thing Tsubaki can think of. AND SHE CAN THINK OF SOME PRETTY RIDICULOUS THINGS.]

[..."Imperator Librarius," huh? Sounds like a fancy title, especially with the way she stated it, with such a tone. Either way it was his turn.]

And I'm Colonel David Jordan, commander of the elite 156th Tactical Fighter Wing of the Federal Erusian Air Force, better known as Yellow Squadron. I was Ace of Aces in the Usean Continental War, with more than one hundred confirmed aircraft kills in a two year period. After the war, Yellow Squadron was transferred back to Farbanti. Before I arrived here, I was slated to act as a flight instructor at the Air Force Academy to whip the next generation of fighter pilots into shape.

[After listening intently to all their stories, he decides to speak up again. Nothing was really consistent, but they were not too far off from what he remembered.]

If I had to guess, we all seem to be remembering different possibilities from each person's world. I recall David here mentioning he had lost the war he mentioned. Litchi may have owned a clinic, but she was also a staff fighter that seemed to be looking for... something specific. Noel and Tsubaki were both from the Military Academy, although Tsubaki was much younger and Noel less... confident. [Or endowed.]
