[It's definitely way too hot for the tastes of someone used to living on a very high mountaintop. Litchi isn't really enjoying this heat wave much at all. So, once she's gotten her work out of the way for the day, she's headed off to the lake in an attempt to cool down. Not that she has any plans on swimming, just relaxing in the shade. Maybe finally finishing that book she's been reading. A nice afternoon to herself; although she's fairly certain there will be plenty of other people who had the same idea as her for beating the heat.

Once she's out at the lake and had a chance to at least slightly cool off, she takes out her journal to ask something she's been meaning to get around to for a while now.]

I think it's about time I got around to learning some magic from the Spirits here. Nala, specifically, if I remember what the guide said correctly. With the way things have been lately, it's becoming more and more obvious that I would be a much better help to the village if I learned some healing magic.

I suppose my question would be: Can anyone with experience contacting Nala let me know what to expect and how to make contact? Or any Spirit, for that matter. I'm afraid this is all new to me still.

Nala is the easiest to contact-- and learn from, I've found.

All you really have to do is express the intention to help people with her aid. She's the only one of them with really helpful impulses. Doesn't matter where you are, either.

That certainly sounds easier than I would have expected. I have to admit, it's a bit of a relief.

About how long does it take to get a good handle on the healing spells?

[a smile] ...amazing such a useful skill can be so easily learned, ehh?

And I'd say about a week, if you're speaking with Nala everyday. Maybe shorter than that, if you're accustomed to working with injuries or illness.

I just went out into the forest and tried to call to her with my mind, if that makes any sense.

[Tir is actually out fishing, but since it's kind of a hot day, he actually waded out in the water and found a nice place on top of a rock out in the middle of the water where he can let his feet get wet while fishing. He's got a fishing line in hand, but his shoes are sitting beside him, next to his neatly folded up tunic that he's not wearing.]

It is amazing. Such a short amount of time... I'll certainly have to see about contacting her soon.

I'm fairly sure I understand what you mean, yes.

Did she answer right away, or did it take some time?

[She sees you over there, Tir. Not entirely sure if he's noticed her from where he is -- he seems fairly intent on his fishing -- but still, Litchi gives a wave of greeting.]

[She smiles.] It's a pleasure to meet you, Ginko. I'm Litchi.

[He does notice something behind him, so when he turns his head to look, he spots Litchi. Ah, awkward memories. And here he is without a shirt again. He gives a slight wave back before finding a place to wedge his fishing pole into. He then turns around on his rock to face her. Should he say anything? She seems busy reading and he'd have to be somewhat loud for her to hear.]

[It being unseasonably warm, and Thirteen still needing to make sure his physical training was in order, he decided to forgo his normal morning jog. Instead, when it warmed up, he decided to go out to the lake for a swim. Probably a good half hour after Litchi arrives, she'll see him arrive on the scene dressed in a shirt and his swim trunks, carrying a duffel bag.

When he arrives, he takes a look around for a second. He doesn't notice Litchi sitting under the shade of a tree, so he takes off his shirt, and wades into the water, then starts swimming.]

[She sets her book aside and approaches the edge of the lake so that she's at least a little closer. Yelling an entire conversation is a little ridiculous.]

Anything biting, Mr. McDohl?

It took me a couple of days, but that's probably because I might've been doing it wrong the first time. No one really explained how to contact the spirits to me before I tried it myself.

[Litchi honestly doesn't notice Thirteen either until she hears the splashing. Glancing up from her book, she waits until he's fairly close to shore before trying to call out.]

How's the water, Mr. Jordan?

[Huh? He stops swimming when he's called to. He quickly rubs the water out of his eyes to see Litchi. A welcome sight, definitely.]

Colder than I expected!

[Soft chuckle.] That's precisely why I thought I would ask. I'm not exactly experienced in such things either.

Anything I should know about ahead of time, or is it just a trick of making the right mental connection?

[She laughs lightly.] I'd imagine. It's been fairly cool up until now.

Although it shouldn't take you long to warm back up, hm~?

I think it's just about making the right connection. She's really nice once you do get to talk to her, and she wants to help people learn how to heal others.

That's good to hear. I'm really hoping to learn from her soon; anything to help out around the clinic more.

You work at the clinic?

[There's a smile as he treads water for the moment.]

Nah. I'll be fine. What brings you out this way? Thinking of swimming yourself?

Yes, as often as possible. Although I still feel I could do more to help.

I'm a... [Friend? Patient? Both?] ... friend of Doctor McCoy's, so I was just wondering.

[Absently tucking her hair behind her ear, she shakes her head.] Tempting as it is, no. I just thought I'd find somewhere a little cooler to try and escape the heat. As best I can, anyhow.

Do you usually come out this way for a swim, or is it just the heat wave?
