So the battle is starting this weekend, isn't it? [Why is it half the people she knows are drafted?] ...Everyone, please, be careful.

[Litchi is cooking today. A lot. It's part stress relief, part Welcome Home Tao. She's got far too much pent up negative energy and feels the need to do something with it -- guilt trips built up from Dragobete, worry over everyone heading off to war, anger towards the Malnosso... it all has built up into a need to cook up an obscene amount of food. Not to mention Tao's arrival; with the Kaka girl around again, Litchi has no doubt that every bit of the food she makes will end up eaten.

But even with Tao, there's still far more than necessary. Anyone in or around Community Building 2 is free to come by and find out what's cookin'. There's a ridiculous amount of Chinese food here and it needs eating. ♥]

[Litchi is halfway through making a second round of steamed buns for Tao, but she still offers a smile.]

I'm easily distracted. [He glances over at the food. There certainly is a lot.] Must be a heavy eater, that one.

She really is. And all of the kit-- er, children in her village are more of the same.

[She looks around at all the food.] ...Although I suppose I went a little overboard.

[He catches that correction. But he doesn't call her out on it. Really now, he's a guy from SPACE. If your student is a twenty foot man eating blob, he's not going to bat an eye.]

Good food will get eaten one way or another. [He snatches one of the steamed buns.] No harm in making too much, right?

[~~No, the twenty foot man eating blob is her old boyfriend.~~ I mean, uh...]

You're right. There will always be someone to help eat whatever's here. [She gives him a wry smile.]

Careful, that's still hot.

[His fingers are only slightly singed. But he's like, one of those badasses who puts cigarettes out on his own hand or something. He doesn't take a bite just yet though.]

Never underestimate moochers. We're all about free food.

[She shakes her head amusedly.]

[Soft laugh.] That wasn't what I meant... I was going to say I'm amazed she and you don't burn yourselves more often.

Oh. [He glances down at his hands.] Who says I don't? I'm just used to it by now.

Mr. Goroh... [Good lord, what is she going to do with you people.] That really isn't what I wanted to hear.

I have burn gel under the sink if you need it.

Nah, I'm fine. [He holds the bun between his teeth so she can see his hand. All nice and calloused.]

You should really take better care of yourself!

Hey, Litchi, I plan to live to the ripe old age of a hundred and thirty. I got most of my life still ahead of me.

If you take care of yourself. Honestly, Mr. Goroh, you shouldn't be so reckless...

[She shakes her head, trying to stop the rising Indignant Doctor Rage. He has to be doing this on purpose to rile her up.]

Hopefully it's only a matter of time for that...

[Not really! He just has that much faith in 26th century medicine, that's all.]

Yeah. Maybe. [Now that he doesn't have any faith in.] But maybe you're right. Until I do get home, maybe I should take better care of myself. The medicine around her is pretty old fashioned.

Just a few habit changes would keep you much healthier.

[Why yes, that was a vague hint at "stop smoking." Litchi acts nonchalant about it, though, and goes back to kneading her dough.]

[She almost sounds like she's commenting on the weather, she's so off-handed.]

Well... Handling scalding hot food with your bare hands isn't helping you any. And don't get me started on the smoking.

[He crosses his arms, clearly not liking the sound of that.] I only started smoking because of this hellhole.

Be that as it may, I can't say it's a habit I support at all.
