[It's late at night, and Litchi is out and about. Now that she's done with her work for the day, more or less out of habit, she's out searching the village. It's probably stupid to be out looking for someone who's probably not even in Luceti -- especially someone she's bound to have caught wind of by now -- but old habits die hard. Besides, if he is out there, the village needs protecting.

So here she is, slowly making her way around all of the village, shivering lightly despite her coat, armed with her bo staff just in case. The cold is something of an afterthought. She'll probably regret it later, but she'd rather be chilly for a while and know for sure rather than keep wondering.

Deep down, she's almost hoping not to find anything.]

Eh? [He's still leaning on the bridge railing and only turns enough to see who it is.] Yeah, guess I am. The night life sticks with you, even when there's none to be had.

I'd have to agree. It's a little strange not having all the city lights blazing all night.

[She gives him a small smile.] I'm not intruding, am I?

[hageshii]

[He's quiet for a moment as he peers down at the water again. He tosses his cigarette away and turns, resting against the rails.]

Ain't nothing to intrude on. So what about you? I didn't think they made the doctors here work so late.

[not_meatbuns]

Oh, I thought I'd just... take a look around, is all. [Litchi is a terrible liar. Absolutely horrible. This is why she's trying to tell a half-truth.] There's been a bit too much on my mind lately.

[hageshii]

Well I hope it ain't hair styles. [He can pick up on the fact there's something more there, but he's not the type to pry. At least not right away.]

[not_meatbuns]

[She sighs.] You're never going to let me live that down, are you? I don't even remember that...

[hageshii]

I'd be happy to keep it between the two of us. It wasn't all that flattering a look for me.

[not_meatbuns]

Fair enough, I suppose. Thank you.

[hageshii]

Sure thing. So failing that, what's got your mind so preoccupied?

[not_meatbuns]

[Litchi is silent for a moment as she carefully chooses her wording. Is there really any good way to explain "I'm looking for an old friend who turned into a bug-infested monster so I can cure him"?]

Just some... unfinished business. Something I started back home that I'm not sure I'll be able to finish here.

[hageshii]

[He frowns at that and turns back around at the water.]

I'm sure whatever it is ain't any of my business, but we're not in this place forever, you know. I've got my own scores to settle back home, sure. But for now, you have to keep your head in the game. This place is where we're at, whether we like it or not. If and when something comes up and that means we get a shot at going home, you can't let distractions like that keep you from the goal. Whatever it is that you're worried about, you can't fix it while you're here.

[not_meatbuns]

[Litchi frowns. This is really the one subject she can be obstinate about.]

That's the thing. This problem of mine could very well be brought here as well, and would be a danger to everyone. He could be here now, for all I know. That's what I have to find out.

Yeah? Well if it's a person, I can help you find him. If he's not here, then all we have to do is keep an eye on incoming new feathers.

[not_meatbuns]

[And therein lies the problem again, since Arakune really isn't a person anymore. So hard to explain. Litchi sighs.]

That's my plan, but it's... very, very difficult to find him when he doesn't want to be found. I appreciate the offer, but I'm not even too sure how to explain to you what to look for.

[hageshii]

Then how exactly do you plan to find him?

[not_meatbuns]

Because I know what to look for. [And she hates to give Tao's description of "black squiggly" as something to look for, but unfortunately, that's probably the best description possible.]

So what's the plan when you catch him? Bap him with your stick?

[not_meatbuns]

I'm going to try to cure him.

If that doesn't work... [She trails off for a moment. She really doesn't want it to come down to killing him.] ...I'm prepared for the worst.

[hageshii]

... and then he'll come back a week later, only I think he'll be very unhappy. What then?

[not_meatbuns]

[She hadn't figured Luceti death physics into the equation yet. Litchi shakes her head.] ...I don't know.

[hageshii]

Look, if you don't want me to get involved, that's fine. I'm not with the Feds anymore, so sticking my nose into other people's business isn't my thing. If you can help the guy, great. Just don't do anything you'll regret later.

[not_meatbuns]

[The fact that she didn't stop this from happening in the first place is enough to regret, but she doesn't mention that. She sighs.] I have no intention of doing anything of the sort.

[Forced smile.] I appreciate your offer, but I'd hate to drag anyone else into this mess. It's my responsibility.

[hageshii]

[Not really what he wanted to hear, but there's nothing for it. He'll deal with it.] Well, if you change your mind, I'm a floor below you. But if this guy is as dangerous as you say he is, won't take long for him to be everyone's problem.

[not_meatbuns]

[Slight wince. He really will be everyone's problem, and that's precisely what she's afraid of. People reviving here or no, Arakune survives by devouring others. She grits her teeth for a moment, biting back the urge to apologize. This is her mission, and she means to finish it even if it kills her.]

...If he does end up here someday, I'll let you know. The last thing I want is for the village to be in danger.

Well that's good enough for me. [Lucky him, the only people he has to worry about showing up are the Feds, Captain Falcon, or Guster. None of them are really that much of a threat in a place like this.]
