AU Event | Ace Combat Litchi
Okay, so. For the event itself, the first part when they visit worlds, Litchi will be arriving in Farbanti just in time to see Thirteen's plane getting shot down. For the rest of the time she's there, she'll be trying desperately to find the wreckage on the off-chance that she might be able to do something to save him. She'll eventually find the plane, but no body.
But this isn't the fun part, the AU part is.
AU Information
Litchi was one of the best doctors in ISAF, regularly relied upon for the most seemingly-hopeless cases. She had a talent for being able to pull people back from the brink of death and so was usually stationed wherever the need was highest during the war. She entered the ISAF military's medical branch at the rank of captain due to her amount of skill and schooling and was stationed at North Point. It was there that she witnessed Mobius One's first major victory, where she started out with a strong admiration for the skill of the pilot who was able to save the day.
That being said, though, the war itself left a bad taste in her mouth. Even with her talent for saving those thought to be doomed, she couldn't save all of her patients and each one lost hit her hard. (Granted, this was the whole reason she had entered the military's medical branch in the first place - it was precisely where she'd be needed the most.) With each lost patient, she became more and more determined never to lose another, and pushed herself harder towards this goal. She missed a lot of sleep and gained something of a reputation for being fiercely protective of her patients (while neglecting her own health). All of her hard work ultimately sped her through to the rank of lieutenant colonel towards the end of the war, although she tends to pay very little attention to her rank unless it's needed for something. In her mind, she is a doctor first, and anything else comes after.
After the battle of Farbanti, she was approached regarding a patient who had crashed through a roof, broken and battered and very near dead. She ended up taking over the care of their mystery soldier, an Erusean pilot, completely unaware that it was the Ace of Aces Yellow 13 she was taking under her wing.
Thirteen was in a coma for several months, Litchi carefully nursing him back every step of the way. When the war ended, there was a brief scuffle regarding sending him back into the care of a Farbanti hospital, but Litchi ultimately won out with sharp threats and a refusal to let her patient out of her care. When he finally regained consciousness, Litchi was almost immediately attached to him as if he was a lifelong friend, feeling almost as if she'd known him far longer than just a few months. (This may or may not have been aided along by her piecing together what she thought he'd be like before he woke up... and her predictions actually being fairly accurate.) She continued to nurse his way to recovery, spending most of her time with him (although she spread herself very thin during those long months to make sure all of her patients were tended to). Eventually, when Thirteen confided in her that he didn't want to go back to Erusea once he was back on his feet, she offered him a place to stay with her.
From there it was something of a storybook romance, to the utter lack of surprise of her colleagues and great irritation of her superiors. There was a good amount of headbutting between Litchi and her superiors while Dave was getting back on his feet, although not much ever came of it between her rank and the fact that pretty much every doctor who knew her was backing her up. Once he was fully recovered and at work in a civilian job, things settled back down into the everyday routine around the workplace.
Personality
Personality-wise, AU!Litchi is much more opinionated and far less afraid to speak her mind than her OU self. Her reputation for being a fierce and defensive caretaker was well-founded. She's not shy at all, very self-assured and confident, and has a flirty streak a mile wide. She's had several short-lived relationships in her past, usually broken off when her beaus figured out that her first priority always went to her patients. (Which, ironically, is just what brought her to Dave.) She's even more run-down than her OU self, overworking herself more than ever. She also tends to hold herself back emotionally from becoming too attached to people, since she lost so many loved ones between the Ulysses incident and the war. Although she started out the war becoming very attached to her patients, losing so many made her a little more callused, a little less willing to open up to those around her.
That said, she's still a very warm and loving person once she's decided to let someone in. But she doesn't open up that much unless she's sure her risk of losing someone is minimal to none. The heartbreak of losing a loved one is something that hits her very, very hard, and she's hesitant to give herself the chance to be hurt so badly again. Despite it all, she still wants a family of her own more than anything.
She's not so afraid to shove to get where she needs to be, either, since she had to work her tail off as a military medic to earn the respect she did. Her reputation for being especially pushy where her patients were concerned was well-earned.
Her sense of humor is also a bit more morbid than before. A coworker used to jokingly call her "the angel of mercy", what with her prowess in pulling people back from the brink of death, and the fact that she laughs about it is testament to that dark humor streak.
What does this mean for Luceti relationships?
For most of her CR, not much will change. Litchi will be a little more reserved, afraid of losing anyone at any moment to the whims of the Malnosso, but she'll still be playful and affectionate to most. Without any deep dark secrets in her past, she'll also be a lot more truthful with everyone than her OU self. She's perfectly honest and open and is unabashed about sharing anything about her past, which will stand out like a sore thumb compared to the usual.
Also, she'll be a lot flirtier than before. Pretty much any male CR has probably been hit on at some point. And probably continue to be hit on. Without the influence of alcohol. (Which still turns her into a lunatic, by the way.)
Appearance and Other
She will also have absolutely no taint from the Boundary, no erosion. Without any memory of the Boundary, the erosion effect is null. This means her wings are pure white, since the black splotches are caused by Boundary taint. (This causes her great amusement. See Angel of Mercy comment above.)
Her hair will also not be quite so long. It's still fairly long - down to the small of her back - but she keeps it up in a tight bun most of the time. No more tripping-over-her-hair length.
Although she still dresses provocatively when off-duty, she's much more conservative about her work dress. She still favors tighter clothing, but she covers up completely when at work, which may be something of a surprise to her fellow doctors.
Lao Jiu will be completely absent during the AU. Her hair will just be held up with a clip. This time around, there isn't a stuffed panda pile in her room. (Sorry Noel.) No ties to pandas. Alas.
Her health is also noticeably better even though she's spread so thin and overworks herself so much. Without the Boundary erosion breaking down her body, she can push herself much longer without any rest. She's also just as physically strong as before, but without the crippling factor of her lungs and muscle structure breaking down slowly, so she may actually appear stronger than her OU self. (Although that's not the case, since Boundary is more than compensation, but still.)
Married to Dave, although they were only just recently married back home before being dragged back to Luceti again. Despite all of her flirting, she's intensely loyal to Thirteen and would, with zero hesitation, lay down her life for his. They've been through a lot together and, at the end of the day, even if she's hit on fifty guys, the only one her heart goes to is Dave. She considers herself extremely lucky that she has a guy like him.
Luceti Events - AU'd
Out of major events, most things have stayed... well, basically the same. She still gets drunk and wreaks cosplay havoc on the town from time to time. Rather than meeting Dave as a combination of knowing Goroh and the draft, though, she went straight to him when she arrived and barely left his side since. Still was with Bang for the first Valentine's event, although not much ever came of that since she went right back to Thirteen afterward.
Still overworked herself enough to inspire the hot springs kidnapping incident. Still got shitfaced drunk and came up with the "bunch of grapes and a single sugar cookie" plot. Still painted Dave's nails.
The incident of the Boundary snapping loose and the ultimate fatal encounter with Ragna never happened. She did, however, come down with a very serious illness that knocked her off her feet for several months around the same time, and still ended up having to be nursed back to health by Thirteen. Severe case of pneumonia, worsened by her not heeding the warning signs and continuing to push herself until the point of no return. She recovered beautifully, though, and ever since has been much better about taking a rest, although she often needs prompting even now.
She was still sent home to Strangereal for a brief time, coming back a little later on in her timeline. She and Dave had just enough time to get married and barely settle down before the Malnosso came a-knocking again. (She's a little miffed about that -- thanks for delaying her family yet again, Mallies.) To cover their tracks a little better and keep Erusea from being able to find him so easily, Dave took Litchi's last name instead of the reverse. Nobody's going to be looking for an ace pilot by the name of Faye-Ling; Litchi is an only child and her (adoptive) parents are elderly. Their name is as unassuming as possible.
During her first stay in Luceti, she still lived in House 48, still took in Tao and Tsubaki as her own. She still was a little harsh on Kazuma out of concern for his health. Dave was still sent home before her and it crushed her even more than it did for OU Litchi. Upon their second arrival, though, as a newlywed pair and unfamiliar with some of the new housemates, Dave and Litchi settled into an apartment this time around with the invitation open to Tao to come by whenever she likes.
Litchi is not too terribly fond of Luceti for several reasons, and though she makes the best of her time here, deep down, she just wants to go home.
But this isn't the fun part, the AU part is.
