Rebel 40 [Written/Action]

[It was bound to happen sooner or later. Between pushing herself with extra hours at the clinic and running around in the snow more than she should have, Litchi's awesome immune system has finally been conquered. It's little more than a common cold, but she knows she can't push it anymore and needs to rest. Much as she hates to admit defeat like this.

House 48 gets the honor of a puffy-eyed and sniffly Litchi making far more noise than she would like this morning (re: coughing from time to time), trying to make some tea. After that, she's going to bundle up in her room, more than likely forced there by housemates.

Towards mid-morning, feeling even worse about writing this than she feels sick, she drops a note in the journals.]

I am so terribly sorry for my timing on this, but I seem to have caught a cold. It shouldn't take more than a day or two to recover, but I didn't want to put any patients at risk by coming in to work while I'm contagious.

I'm sure the clinic will be just fine in the meantime, but if anyone needs me for anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

I'll be sure to get some rest, but please promise me you'll eat an orange or two. It should help keep you from catching anything.

O-[a pause, and then there was a sneeze.] ...Okay.

[Uh-oh. Did that snowball fight from yesterday did actually leave him with something?]

[Welp. A bit too late for those oranges, isn't it? Shaking her head and trying not to smile, Litchi gestures to Kazuma to follow her into the kitchen.]

Maybe I had better make some tea for you as well, hm?

[He's in trouble isn't he? ;-;. He'll just follow her warily]

Ah...maybe. I'm sorry, it's probably not from you, but from playing in the snow yesterday.

[Not in trouble, no. Litchi is just gathering up the kettle and bringing it back to a boil - shouldn't take long - and getting another cup ready with the same herbal blend she made for herself.]

I've heard there's been several snowball fights... I take it one of those caught you?

Yes...they wanted me to play with them, even when I said I didn't want to.

Some of the children -- or even some of the adults -- here can be rather insistent, unfortunately.

Even the adults? [A sniffle.] I don't quite understand the appeal. I mean, you'll just end up cold and wet afterwards, and doing it in this kind of weather too...

[It's not very hygienic or healthy!]

Sometimes, the adults are the more stubborn ones. [Goroh could be terribly obstinate about taking a break and having fun.] I'm not much for snowball fights myself, but I suppose I can't blame the children.

[And the tea is done. She turns to hand Kazuma his own cup.]

Oh- [After a pause, he takes the cup from Litchi.] Thank you.
